Hi,
I got an email from USCIS on my I-485 status.

The details are as below

“On December 2, 2005, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to our office in MIAMI, FL for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. Our office in MIAMI, FL will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case. If you need further information, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.”

I-140 was pending at VSC.
Question 1: why they send my case Miami, FL I never leaved in FL.
Q 2: Do I need to attend the interview in Miami or I have to ask them to send to my local office?
Q 3: Is I-485 will approved after the interview or I need to wait for priority date
Q 4: How long it will take to get an appointment at local INS offices for I-485?

Please let me know if any body has like this type of situation

Contact immediately the Miami office and ask them to forward it to the correct district office where you reside. Miami has no jurisdiction over your case. Mine was transferred in error to a different location and waited there for 8 months before transferred to the right location.

interview can take months to schedule, depending on location. NYC for example is >1year. really hard to predict.

you will not get the green card unless your PD is current but at least you can clear the interview and just wait for the visa.

Thanks for your quick response.
I send the fax to VSC with my case details. My attorney also send a letter to Vermont center. Do you know how long it will take to process like this case? My PD is Feb 2004

After sending the fax to VSC, I got written response say’s that

"A review of our records indicates that your file was forwarded to an offsite storage facility. Your file has been requested and we will review the file and update our systems as soon as it arrives. Please allow 30 to 60 days for receipt of this notice"

Please let me know any body have same situation like this. What is the next step?

I-485 MOTIC transferred to Newark, Local office

My case is different from yours, but I am not sure why they transferred to Newark, NJ. I am not sure why it transferred to Newark, NJ, is it because of first POE? or is it error by USCIS?

My case details:

I-140 AD 01/24/05
I-485 RD 12/27/04 Denial 09/29/05 MOTION-2 12/23/05, RD 12/29/05 Online Message change to

"On January 11, 2006, we transferred your MOTIC MOTION TO REOPEN BEFORE THE COMMISSIONER to an office in NEWARK, NJ for processing. That office will notify you when they take action on your case. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283, to receive information about local office processing times."

But I live in VA but moved to different cities since I-485 filing. My first POE was Newark, NJ.

Thanks for your reply with suggestions.
