I would suggestions/comments from the forum about the possibility of getting H1 visa while visiting on a B1/B2 visa.
Is it possible?
What are the drawbacks? Will it cause problem for the dependents to get the H4 visa who are not currently in USA?

Should the person go back before filing for the H1 visa and get the H1 entry visa to come back?

The basic question what is the safe (and legal) option with minimum cost.

Thanks for responses.

Many people have done it. I think there is no problem. But you should not apply H1 immediately after arriving to USA. But wait for three months and then apply. Otherwise consulate/CIS may feel that you did not revel your intensions at the time of getting B1 visa at consulate.

Thanks Tammy2 for your response.
Do you know if those who have switched from visitor visa to H1B had any problems getting the entry visa stamped on their passport, or if their dependents had any problems getting the visa?
Thanks:)

In the past when times were good, many have changed their status from B1/B2 to h1 ,while they were here

It is not advisable to do that now under the current situaions
of course there is no certain way of saying you would get it
or not get it .

it is better to go back before filing h1 and then get it stamped in consulate and come back -It is a safe and definite way of ensuring
no mishaps
