Transfer of I-485 to the other local Office

I have applied for change of status based on family relation to vermount center, at the time of application i had showed Maryland address as my address because i am doing contracting job and every 6 months i might have to move to other state. and My wife lives in Maryland with her parents until she completes her study. So to be on the safe side i chose to use Maryland address.

I had an interview in Baltimore in December. Interview went well but at the end he asked about my job and i told him , i am working in Charlotte, NC so he said he cannot issue me GC but he has to transfer my case to Charlotte for them to schedule an interview. Now my question is, as my case has been transfered to Charlotte, do they consider the trasfer date as the original date they recieved the application or the date when i sent my application to Vermont Center for the change of status.Because right now at charlotte they are working on sep'2004 cases, i have initially sent my application to vermont center on March'2005 and in Dec'2005 they transfere my case to charlotte. So in simple words will they consider March'05 or dec'05 to schedule the interview.

Also because i was not living in Baltimore they transfered my case, now other question is Can i make some arrangement so that now onwards i will pay NC taxes but because of nature of my job ,move around the US in other state. I intent to open up a company in NC so that way i will pay taxes in NC. Will that work or do i have to physically present in NC ?
