Transfer of H1

Hi
I got my h1 stamped in the month of Janauary 2008 and since my sponsoring compnay does not make any move to bring me (I quit my current job in India upon H1 stamping, under instyruction of my Petitoner company) to USA.
Now, I have decided to fly on my own with hope that some corporation would take my H1 transfer.
I have following questions.
1) Upon arrival in USA, if I apply for Social Security #, then would be possible for any other corpioration to transfer my h1?
I assume that my curent petitioner would not cooperate me for H1 transfer, by issuing pay stub.
2) What is the time limit to transfer H1, upon arrival, if SS# has been applied?

hi,

As per my knowledge you cannot tranfer without the paystub from your present employer. If my informations is worng others can correct..

If I travel to the U.S. all by myself, my first job will be with the sponsoring employer.
