Transfer of cases coz....

Hi All

I think BCIS/INS usually transfers most family based cases to local INS. We see them now coz we are running script to check ALL I-485 (including family and employment based) cases. In addition, they transfer cases when finger-print/name match with FBI database.

Any comments.

Good luck to all of us.:)

that might be a possibility. But also, there might be more transfers because of stricter rules - anything ambiguous in the file neccesitates a transfer?

The bottom line is - we don't really know - we can only speculate.....

Family-based I-485 (EXCEPT if you live in Baltimore) is filed in local offices, not regional service centers.

I once read in this forum that all employment based applications start with 5. Since we are scanning only those starting with 5, the family-based cases wouldn't showup in our scans.

BCIS now knows that IT job market is poor. Many people even though they might have passed 180 days might still be without jobs. So they are transferring more and more cases. Sounds logical. In my view, they should transfer atleast 6 months of all cases and then start working from 7th month. Its a good way to reduce backlogs...

GC012002- Thanks for clarification. You are right, family based applicants have to file at local office except Baltimore, may be that is the reason why most I-485 cases from Baltimore are transferred.

RajeshJ- Any application/petition that has electronic data starts with 5.
