Transfer L1A to H1B

I am currently a L1A visa holder for company "A". The visa is valid until May 2009. I want to change my employer to a company "B". What are my options ? I know that Company B has no problem in sponsoring me for an H1B visa however since we are in Nov 2006, thay won't be able to apply for H1B until April 2007 and eventualy get my H1B visa in October 2007. Is my understanding correct ? Is there any way out of this ? Are there any other work visas available or some adjustment of status ways so I could switch the employer right away ?

There are other work visas that might work for you
Try looking at an O Visa or looking at a TN visa if you are Canadian or Mexican.
 
Just read about O visa. Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think this could apply in my case. Any other thoughts on the subject or advice ?
