I had written earlier as to how my case (primary applicant) was approved in September 2003 but my wife's case (derivative) was transferred to the Boston office. Finally her case also got approved last week.
While her case was transferred to the Boston office in September, her files took more than 2 months to reach the Boston office. She put in a formal inquiry some time in November, and we got an interview date for February 2004.
We took our attorney with us and the process went through quite smoothly. They stamped her passport right there and with that ended this long journey full of ups and downs.
For those who are transferred to the Boston office, I would recommend that you go in there and formally lodge an inquiry if you do not hear about an interview date within a couple of months of the transfer. I am told that the waiting period widely varies but looks like it is within six months of transfer. There have been cases wherein the approval was not given right after the interview, but also cases wherein they have not -- I am not sure how much our case was helped with our attorney present. It also seems that one of the reasons my wife's case was transferred was because the Vermont office had misplaced her primary file! She was also national interest waiver case and they wanted to see the original waiver.
Anyway, it is finally over and has taken a tremendous load off our minds. All the best to those of you waiting -- it will happen, and hopefully very soon.
