Traffic tickets from your home country?

I mailed my N400 today. I listed 3 traffic tickets - 2 speeding tickets in the US where I have court records showing they are paid, plus one ticket from 15 years ago in the UK. That was paid but I have not documentation for it. When I applied for the K1 visa in 97 I listed that ticket and the interviewer told me that they don't care about traffic tickets.

Would it be worth me trying to contact the original court back in the UK and request a copy of the citation / payment record? Or are they simply not going to care?

i might be wrong. however, it does not seem USCIS would care about the traffic ticket (non-DUI) from your home country thou. Try to contact your home court house to get a copy of citation / payment record. if you could not get it, i guess it might not hurt too much since it has been 15 yrs ago. having said that, I assume it was not a DUI ticket, was it?

I have a basic question. I am ready to file my citizenship application and I have requested details of the moving violations from the town court. Do I have to wait until I have the document or can I proceed with the application by only listing the information about the moving violations in my form?

I was able to get notarized copies of my US Speeding tickets from the courts, as the courts involved are both less than 10 miles from here.


The UK ticket was a Driving Without Insurance ticket that got me a $300 fine and 6 points on my license. I was 17.

When I got the 'Police Letter' for my K1 visa (to show criminal history) it showed nothing at all - even the UK police didn't consider it a Crime.


I just drafted a quick letter to the court that handled my case in the UK and asked if it's possible to find the record. It can't hurt to have it, even though I'm 99.9% sure they won't care.
