Tourist Visa and Entry Visa

I am having difficulty finding information on the validity of existing Tourist Visa issued to a person of Indian Orgin. Here is my situation. My child got her Indian Tourist Visa in 2007 which is valid until 2012. She is classified as a person of Indian origin because my spouse and I are former Indian nationals. I became aware recently that Tourist Visas are not issued to people of Indian origin. Can you all shed some insights on the following:

  1. In this situation, is my child's Tourist Visa still valid or does she need an Entry Visa? She will be making a trip in April 2011.
  2. Also, what is the longest duration a person can stay in India during a single trip on either Tourist or Entry Visa?
  3. Is there a need to register with the Indian police upon arrival when one travel's on either Tourist or Entry Visa?
 
Tourist visa is still valid. However one cannot make two successive trips to India within two months. With an X/PIO/OCI, there is no such restrictions.
