Here's facts on total time it takes today to get Green card:

(You can verify the time lines posted here by going to trackers in this forum.)
Labor Certification : 2 to 3 years.
I-140 : 1 to 2 years
485: 2 to 3 years.

Total comes to : 5 to 8 years.
Big Question: Is it worth waiting for 5 to 8 years to get the GC in US ???

If you are in a very Dynamic ever changing field like IT ,can you justify your self that you would stay about 8 years with same job and Company??

Does it logically looks lilke one should even think of getting Green card at all after looking above facts?? NO.

What to do then ..?

Don't count on your Green Card. DO not make cruicial decision of your life just on hope that you will get the GC..
Think of GC as a secondary item , and make decision as if you would not be getting the GC and proceed in your life..

other wise you will not be able to do any thing..

I come up with these timeline in terms of getting Green Card these DAYS. Dont give up hope guys if you your PD is current. Most of the applicant are within EB3 Cat.

Assume that a person starts his Green Card Process from April 1st.

Labor via PERM: His/her labor gets cleared by June 1st (If no audit).

I140 and I485: Concurrent filing: This filing is more effective for those who can file from either CA or VT.

CA, 140: Current as of today they are processing May 25th Case.
CA, 485: Current as of today they are porcessing May 7th Case.

So if you file from CA, your 140 and 485 get approved by March of 2006.

VT, 140 is of today, they are processing Oct 15th 2004.
VT, 485 is of today, they are processing June 19th 2003 cases.

So if you file from VT, your 140 gets approved by November 05.
and 485 gets approved by Jan of 2007.

This is just an estimate, you can still live on guys.
