Scotia Bank episode: One doesnt have to appear in the bank personally. You can forward your receipts you get from the confirmation package to a friend in canada, if you have one. They can submit 100$ for you. It will save time. Reached toronto consulate at 7:45 for my 8AM appointment. Was in line at 10-12th position.

Reach inside. There was a lady checking everyone's papers. All people in front of me had incomplete forms. So i back first one in.

Couter 1 (for submitting docs)

1. When did you move to USA
2. Why did you move then?
3. When did you change from F1 to H1B
4. Whats your status in canada (I back a PR the day before)
5. Show me your record of landing.
6. She takes away my forms and asks me to wait until my name is called.

9AM

My name is called.

(Counter X). Answers are written here in concise form.

VO: When did you move to USA.
VO: Were you on OPT between F1 and H1.
Me: No. I was on CPT for 3 months.
VO: So you dont need the F1 visa anymore. Can i cancel it then
Me: Sure.
VO: Collect your passport tomorrow.
Me: Thank you. I am off to Niagara Falls.
VO: Have a good day.

Then we started a random conversation about how HOT it is today and esp. in Niagara falls.

Tips:
1. I had a rental car. Toronto downtown is PACKED as hell during office hours. I reached early for my visa appointment so it was fine. But to pick up my passport, it took my 1 hr to get into the downtown and get out.

2. Use bus service. It's simple. Taxi is expensive.

3. Take a few granola bars inside. You will be waiting for long time. They let you take that.
