Folks:

My boss wants to send me abroad on business trips that last between 2-3 days and 3-4 weeks. It looks I may be out of the country for more than 6 months/year total being in and out the country all the time.
Do I need to file I-131? I need to be safe in terms of residency so I can appy for citizenship.

Second question. Can I use the I-131 each time when I enter and exit the country for these business trips or it is a one time form.

You won't need an AP unless you remain outside the US for more than 6 months continuously.

What would be much more useful would be a letter, from your employer, stating the temporary nature of these foreign assignments. It should state that your job is located in the US. You might want to get your corp lawyer to draft a letter.

The only concern you'll have is when your 5 years are up, you can't have been outside the US for more than 50% of the time, or else you'll have to wait longer to apply for citizenship.

The other thing you should do is make a list of all the times you left the US. You'll need it when you apply for citizenship.
