To get L2 visa is L1B extension visa stamp on spouse's Passport required

Hello,

1. I am currently in US on L1B visa, which expires on 30 June 2005, and my company has filed for my L1B visa extension. I do not plan to have stamping for the extended L1B visa on my passport since I never left US after I came to US. Would my L1B extension approval paperwork and a copy of my passport with the old / expired visa stamp in it (till 30 June 2005) be enough for my wife to get the L2 visa or does the consulate need a copy of my passport with the updated visa stamp (the new L1B approval / extension) in it, for her to get a L2 visa.

2. Also if I do need to have stamp on my passport for the current L1B approval / extension, for her to get a L2 visa can I get the stamp by crossing over to Canada and then reentering USA with the updated visa stamp on my passport.

Thank you very much for all the information.

Regards,
Paresh
