Hello all,
thank u for taking the time to read this. please advise me on how to go abt this. I am a GC holder and planning to file for my citizenship in a day or two.(i'm gonna file for my husband's GC after i get my citizenship )
my problem is that, when my father filed for GC 10 years ago, we didnt put my real birth mother's name on the paperwork, instead we had my aunt's name as my mother. we even got a fake birth certificate to prove it. I wasnt aware of this as I was young (19 yrs) when i entered US.
now i want to set things straight and put my real mother's name on the documents, and is there a way I can do that ? or will it complicate my case ?
at this point, i do have the choice of filing the paperwork with my fake certificate, but im just concerned that if some of my not-so-nice relatives can create a problem for me about these fake documents. Cuz they are very capable of it..

please advise. Thank u so much in advance for taking the time.
p.s - do u know of any lawyer's email address that i can email and ask for advise or where i can find their info on the net?
regards

My thoughts: Talk to a competent immigration attorney regarding your case. From what you have described above, it appears that you have submitted fradulent documentation/evidence to obtain your USPR status. Note that USCIS has every piece of documentation that you ever filed with them (which may give reasonable justification for deportation). Neverthless talk to an immigration lawyer before you file anything with USCIS in your case. Good luck.

For what it is worth, the only reference to your parents on the N-400 form is a simple Yes / No question on whether either is a U.S. citizen. And you shouldn't need to produce a birth certificate during this process. At least you won't be perpetuating your past fraudulent documentation by having to answer something untruthfully at this point.

The best advice has been already stated: consult an attorney if you're determined you want to do this. Your better option may be just to remain a PR -- are the added benefits of citizenship worth it to you to take this risk?

I doubt you can claim ignorance with the birth certificate scam. You were 19, and unless you are legally insane, you were toatally responsible for anything you signed on.

As everyone stated above: Take a lawyer. Make sure thislawyer is VERY good. Get anothe lawyer for second opinion. Think well if you really want to take the risk.

Happy I'm not on the same boat...
