To contact or not to contact.....

My lawyer suggested that I don\'t talk to anybody at VSC. When asked why, he said that if by some chance I provide information that is not \'exactly\' in synch with the information they have, I will be jeapordizing my case. Seemed to make sense. But, on this board, I\'ve seen many postings which indicate frequent oversights by INS. (Scary). I like my lawyer; he has been alright. But should I call or should I not? Post your opinions please.

P.S. What does \'IIO\' stand for?

Hi Timbuk3,

IIO= Immigration Infomation Officer (I think).

As far as calling IIO is concerned, I personally don\'t think there is any harm in calling them occasionally. They do not ask for anything other than your EAC number. Basically you are calling them to check status and that\'s what they will tell you. They may or may not give you the estimate for how long will it take for approval. I personally have called them 3 times all together and I have been satisfied with their answers. I have called only when I needed to know the status (usually checking on this board give you reliable info as well)

The key is that one should be to the point since lot of people are waiting in line. I normally make a checklist of things I am going to ask before I call them.

Call them if you think you need to find out your status. If the cases around the same timeframe as yours are being adjudicated, you should try to find out what is going on with your case.

Good luck.

There\'s no harm in contacting the IIO. They usually ask the EAC# and may be check the address. It is mostly you asking the questions and you most surely know what to ask right?

I think it fine to talk to IIO and this way also come to know the screups that lawyers make... so go ahead make that horrendously busy INS VSC phone line.. and keep us posted on this board..
