And please urge your own Senators to support the Committee bill as the starting point for debate. We will keep you posted about floor amendment strategy as we develop it with our allies. Congressional Switchboard to reach any Senate office: 202-224-3121

Do not forget to express your concern on the legal immigrants, the long time waiting, the visa number retrogression, H-1B cap etc.

arent we jumping the gun here without even realizing what the whole thing is for? As far as I know sen Fienstien had voted against the Mc Cain introduced immigration bill that went to senated for voting. He is a conservative democrat who is not in favor of liberal immigration policies. He is from Wisconsin where I live so I know a little... Have not followed it in detail so you guys can correct me if I am wrong.

You are confusing the California senator Diane Fienstein with the WI guy. She is a democrat - not excited about students getting green cards or any increase in H1B (typical of democrats who are beholden to union members) but like all democrats are taking advantage of the split in the ranks of republicans and are trying to woo the latino voters. She managed to bring an amendement on agri workers (100 page legislation) which was pushed through in 15 minutes - 1.5 million visas (NOT subject to country quotas!!!!). In the very next breath she asked for a doubling of fees for the F4 visa for students.
