I am currently in the US on a F1 (student) visa. I got married
to a US citizen about a month ago. I am graduating and
have taken a job overseas (outside the US). I plan to work there for about 4 or 5 years. During that time, we plan to
travel to the US at least once a year and stay for
about 2 weeks. After 4 or 5 years, we plan to settle
down in the US permanently. I intend to become a US
citizen eventually.
My question is:
Should I start applying for a Green card before I
leave for my new job, as this will facilitate my
yearly travel back to the US. Having a green card will also
help when I have to find a job in the US after 4 or 5
years. Finally, will this make it easier or faster for
me to gain citizenship ?
