Hi there,
I'm a Canadian currently in the US on a J-1 visa, and have some leads on jobs which would probably sponsor me for a TN.
Unfortunately I have an DUI charge that's about 10 years old at least (I honestly can't remember when). I've been in no trouble since then, in either country.
Does anyone know if this basically eliminates my eligibility or not? It may be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping that the background check for my J-1 showed my DUI and that it won't matter anymore than it did then. Of course, I anticipate being asked directly about my criminal record (and know I shouldn't lie).
If there's hope for me, is there anything I can do to better my chances when having the visa interview?
Many thanks.
