TN visa expires 3/3/03 what do I do ?

:( I just got laid off and my company is officially removing sponsorship of my TN on 03/03/03. (My I94 expires on May14th).
How much time do I have to get out of the country ? Surely there must be an unofficial amount of reasonable time ?
Must I apply for a tourist visa ? Can I do this at my local INS office ?

So I must apply for a tourist visa then ?
Can I do this while inside the country ?
I was told that as long as my I-94 is still valid, I have time
to pack my things and go.

No you cannot convert your TN to a tourist visa whilst in USA. One dosen't have any grace period. However, one weeks time to pack and head back would be a reasonable amount of time. If your company is removing sponsorship of your TN, Do not overstay, it is not worth it.
