TN to H1, TD to H4

Hi,

I am a Canadian Citizen working in USA on TN, my company sponsor my H1-B this year and I got the approval papers. I know I don't need visa stamp at consulate, but I can get new I-94 at POE. My wife is not Canadian citizen, so she made an appointment for H4 at Vancouver consulate in Oct. So,

1) Do I have to go to border to get my new I-94 before my wife goes to the interview for H4?
2) How long does it take to get the passport back at Vancouver consulate? Is my wife able to pick it up on the following day (last year my wife was able to get her TD renewal on the next day, I suppose H4 should be the same)?

No you don't need another I-94. Looking at your case, why not go for H-stamping for all of your family together?

Because I don't need a visa stamp, only my wife does and she is a non-Canadian.
