TN to GC

I mailed my AOS package (I-485, I-765, I-131 etc..) to TSC during the first week of June. I am yet to receive notification that the package is in the system. My TN permit will expire in early September. Should I start thinking about a mail in TN renewal or will I not be out of legal status because of the submission of the AOS package? What if I don\'t get any acknowledgement from TSC before my TN expires? Anyone with an opinion or similar experience please help.
Regards,
Al

I was in the very same position 1 year ago. My TN was to expire in September and my attorney was filing I-485, EAD and AP in July. He also filed a TN extension as he said that you cannot rely on the EAD being completed in time. Somehow, it is possible to extend a TN even though an I-485 has been filed. Extend the TN by mail only. DO NOT GO TO THE BORDER!

I\'m still waiting on the I-485. All other documents were approved. By the way, the EAD was approved before my TN expired. However, as my attorney said, DO NOT rely on it being this way. File a TN extension.

A, I\'m not certain about the TD\'s. In my immigration case, it\'s just me, so I have no experience with TD\'s. :)

If I had to guess, I think that you would need to extend the ID\'s as well. If your AD is not done in time and you therefore remain in TN status, then I suppose that for your family members to remain in legal status they would still need the TD\'s.

Assuming you are from Canada, check out www.grasmick.com. He has some good information regarding TN visas and immigration in general.

My previous post should have read as follows (darn spell checker!):
