TN Renewal (new application at POE)

I am currently in the US on a TN visa that expires on Friday. I am flying into Montreal on Wednesday to do a sameday trip to apply for a new TN with the same company for the same position as a CSA. I am solid on all the supporting documentation but have a couple of questions.

1) My current TN expires Friday (March 4) and the the support letter for new one specifies the job for the new one starting Monday March 7. After reading this forum I realize it was a mistake to specify dates but it is what it is. Would it be expected that in most cases CBP will be reasonable and make the new TN effective when I go thru customs and admit me under the new TN? Is this something I should be asking them to do when I hand the application for the new one or is it pretty much implied that if the application is approved they will admit me under then new one at that moment? This situation is kind of similar to the whole "how many days in advance can I apply" but I'm not sure if the fact that I have a TN with 2 days left on it complicates things.

2) I have a very strong TN support letter that follows all the best practices mentioned here, addressed to CBP with a wet signature. What I don't have is an employer offer letter addressed to me. The reason for that is that its a corp to corp arrangement and there is already a signed work order in place and since the work is continuing there was no need to change any of that...I have all the supporting docs to back this up. After reading this forum it seems the TN support letter is the critical piece and not an offer letter addressed to me but it seems to come up as an issue every once and awhile here. My question is how to approach this if it becomes a sticking point? I am assuming to politely explain why a new offer letter addressed to me was not required. If still an issue after this should I ask to speak to a supervisor?

Thanks in advance!

1. You are right, its better not to put a start date, just the duration of the TN validity requested should be good. However, when they approve and admit you under the TN, the validity start from that moment. You can tell the officer that though its just an administrative thing from HR part putting in the following work day date as start, however, you are just continuing with the same employer

2. You are right, TN support letter is what they look for, in my case, in the last 8 years, they never asked for an offer letter, always, the first thing I hand them over is the TN support letter with supporting education credentials documents, most of the times, they didn't even ask for education docs, just the support letter. Unless they specifically asks for Offer Letter, better not to bring that up for discussion with officer
