My current TN status is going to end on Feb. 6, 2008. Furthermore, I am going to make a trip to Asia during Christmas holiday; thus, I am considering of TN Renewal (same employer) at either Vancouver PFI or LAX airport on my way back on Dec 30, 2007 with the similiar supporting documents as my initial TN application.
Which airport is more desirable? Vancouver PFI or LAX? (I am a bit worried that LAX may have little experience in TN Renewal, especially during the holiday season)
Would the U.S. Custom process the renewal application when the current TN status remains a little more than 1 month left?
Which starting date should be stated on the employer's supporting letter?
Do I have to surrender my current I-94 as I leave US for the holiday?

If anyone has knowledge or experience, please kindly share.

Thank you so much in advance.

Last year when I left US I have 7 months left on my I94, the airline people took it out from my passport.

- On the way back I presented the same documents and the immigration officer gave me the choice, he said he will give me the new I94 for 7 months free, or I can get the 12 months with fee. I choose to get the new one and paid $56.00

- Not sure about the Vancouver of LAX but I came back on EWR.

- I think it will consider the new TN (correct someone if I am wrong please).

- US Customs does not process TN Application, US Immigration does. same thing I am not sure what will happen, but in my case they gave me the new TN when I had 7 months left on old one with the same employer.

- I would say to avoid the dates on the letter and just say like one year employment something like that. My letter was dated on the day I left US (1 month old as I was on vacation for one month).

- I think you will be in trouble if you don't surrender I94 while leaving North America, but I am not sure on that.
