TN POE for Canadian

My TN will expire next month, and my company will givme new letter for renewal. I work in Texas, as I know that TN is for Canadian & Mexicans. Is that oky to goto US/Mexico border to renew the TN, I don't want to goback to Canada side because of too busy.
Please tell me that Mexico/US border people can issue me TN or not.

Of course if there's a problem then they deny your TN Status, you might be stuck in Mexico as well. Heard some bad things about the San Ysidro (I think) crossing with people applying for a new TN...
