Hello Everybody,
I went for an interview in LA consulate last week. First, Here is my experience, Latter I would like to ask questions from you gurus..

Reached 8:30. Parked in a garage infront of the consulate building for $9...They called for submitting docs after around 9:30...Started calling for interview around 10:15...Typically, interview run for around 20-30 minutes (Based on six-seven guys ahead of me)...Mostly they see your confidence...your documents...your current job..why you want to move to Canada(You guys know reality..but still blah, blah)...One guy ahead of me told that the consul had asked him some techie questions like What is RDBMS? Very generic questions (Sorry I forgot but nothing technically hardcore)...After my interview, the consul told me my score and asked me to get my medical done ( I already had my medical papers) and pay Right of Landing fee...I forgot to ask, where should I send...ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Also, what should I expect next? I read somewhere here that they would do my Background check now...Is that right? How much time would they take? I fail to understand that since I had given FBI, Local Police and PCC from India...what else they want to do? I know what I want for me..get PR ASAP..

Anyways, Your thoughts are highly appreciated!

Good Luck !!

Hello AnotherSetBack, Thanks for posting your experience. Can you give me some info as Mine is next month.

1) Do you know if they have rejected any one. If yes can you tell us why?

2) Do we have to submit all the copies and show them all the originals or its other way arround when you reach consulate.

3) Did they ask you for IELTS and did you submitted or you have given them the letter for showing english proficiency.

4) Did they ask you for police clearence from your home country.

5) Do we have to show them the original employment contract from previous employers or photocopy is acceptable.

6) What kind of dress code were ladies wearing during interview. (If there were any  )

Reason for moving

Hello,

What reason did you give for wanting to move to Canada from the US?

Basically I think most of us are in the same boat, that is, tried to secure permanent resident in the US through one route or another, and due to time running out, are now applying for PR is Canada. However I am not sure if this is acceptable and a decent reason since US was our first choice and are now using Canada as a backup. I mean does it not sound a bit selfish or am I wrong to think like that.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Stoned!

Sorry for not applying early. We thought a lot about this. I guess finally we decided with this answer which I believe is true too
" Coz Canada is a peaceful country with great ethnic diversity and the society welcome immigrants. It is according to UN, top county to live and work. Also by international economic forum's Global ITreport, top 6 countries in IT" Something like that...actually thats what we replied.

Hope this helps
