Timeframe to take oath after passing interview

Some of us have mentioned waiting about 5 months after passing the citizenship interview.

How long does it usually take in California?

A friend of mine just waited 3 weeks between passing his citizenship interview and taking oath in San Jose, California.

Can anyone share anything?

5 months is too long a wait after the interview. After 2-3 months of the interview the oath should be done with.CONTACT your senator/congressman as many times as it takes .Make as many trips as possible to the BCIS till the oathe is scheduled. BCIS is WEIRD. Read my experience at

I had my interview on 3/28/03 and the Oath was on 4/17. Got the oath notice around 4/5 or so. My interview was at Oakland INS and the Oath ceremony was at SF. There are other people I know who had the interview at the same time still waiting for their OATH letter.

This all depends on who interviews you, what that officer thinks and ultimately you application..
