We filed for my wife last year, the first week of May. She had fingerprinting done at the end of May. She took her interview on August 1st. Approved. Her oath was October 16th. You do the math.
Cleveland district office, which is one of the fast ones. I just went through my GC process in 2 and a half months from filing to interview/approval. Now I'm sitting and waiting for my card.
To answer your question then the completion of citizenship process varies depending on many factors such how busy is local distict office is, how many oath is conducted in your jurisdiction, how simple or complicated case you have, or how long it will take your criminal background to be cleared.
That being said, one could belong to a fastest district office, but s/he may stuck in background check or oath ceremony line or whatever. Many places across the country USCIS don't conduct oath as they do in NYC as they conduct oath ceremony 3 times a week in NYC area. And then there are many offices wherein oath is given inside the USCIS office on the same day of approving the case. And a case could be held up even for a little thing if officer is not clear on that stuff because they officer will need a supervisory approval. No one can never expect the timeframe of a case. Each case is different. In general, its taking at most 6 months to wrap a citizenship case across the country.
