Hello,

I applied for Naturalization in Dec 07 in Texas. My Application was processed at USCIS office in Memphis. Priority Date is December 8, 2007.Following are the Dates:

FP:- JAN, 2007
Interview:- MAY, 2007. Interview went fine. They gave a letter for "Eligibility criterea for Citizenship is met" You will receive oath letter .

I just want to know:

1) How long it takes for an Oath letter to come after an Interview.
2) Can we travel outside US and come back.

Thanks for your help!!

  1. It's the USCIS, anywhere from a week to 6 months, with 4-6 weeks seeming about normal
  2. Sure, you still have a green card. Two caveats, though:
    • Make sure someone is opening your mail so that you can find out when your oath is (and don't stay away so long you will miss it)
    • You must meet the continuous residence and physical presence rules on the day you take the oath. There's a bunch of questions on the back of the oath form (that you must fill in and sign the day of your oath). One of them is "have you travelled outside the US since your interview" (roughly). You'll need to answer "yes" and be prepared to defend your continued eligibility for citizenship

1) That, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Don't have experience in that area.
2) Yes, you can certainly travel between your interview and oath. You will be traveling on your valid GC.
