Hi - if anyone recently returned to the US to apply for a reentry permit extension, please provide your inputs- how long does it take to get the biometrics (finger printing) completed after applying for the Reentry permit ? I believe one has to be in the US to apply for reentry permit, but has there been any recent changes that allow people to apply from outside the US and travel to complete biometrics ? When the biometrics rule was introducted, Fragomen (?) was requesting the biometrics be allowed at consulates as well, so people don't have to travel for such requests.

Appreciate the inputs.

You must be in the US to apply and under go the biometrics. You cannot have the biometrics taken overseas. You can however, request to have the issued Re-Entry permit be delivered to a US embassy/consulate or DHS office abroad for pickup.

It takes roughly 2 weeks after you send in your application to get a biometric request - but when your appointment will be depends on availability at the ASC. For example, some folks I know had less than a week from when they got their notice and others' appointment was two weeks out from the receipt of the notice.
