Time running out on N-600k

We filed an N-600K for our adopted Thai son in March 2019. In October the Chicago office mailed requesting more info which we promptly provided. Since then the case has not moved. Our son will be 18 on August 17th, after which date he will be ineligible to take the oath, and I have read that the law allows for no alternatives or recourse, even if USCIS is at fault. I don't suppose they'll even refund part of the fee.

We have heard nothing. His online status acknowledges receipt of the additional info we sent, but no further word.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, servantworker. So sorry to hear this! Has anything happened since June? Covid has not been kind to many folks, with offices shutting and many processes slowing down.
I'm working on filing for my 15-year-old adopted son.
