Hi!

Got my Green Card in 1991 and made teh decision to become a US citizen now....

I have a good track record of my in/out during the last 7 years, but can't get the in/out prior to that as Password was stolen.

Looking for suggestion how to feel the:
"..all the trips of 24 hours or more that you have taken outside of the United States since becoming a Lawful
Permanent Resident. Begin with your most recent trip. If you need more space, use a separate sheet of paper..." on N-400 (part 7.C)

Any idea is welcome !

Thank you

Hi csan

All what you need is a record of trips outside the US in the last 5 years so according to your post you should be fine :)

Thank you jgs1,
The form calls for record of trips since you get your GC...
Did u see the 5 years on any other formal doc?

No you need to list all trips since your GC. We never kept track (and we were Canadians living within driving distance of the border) so we had no way of getting actual dates.

So, we waited until we had 5 years of good travel data (figuring that the last 5 years was more important). Then we included a note saying "in the period 1996 (when we received our GC) and 2000 we made several trips to Canada. Typical trips were 3 to 6 days and the longest trip was 15 days. We made no more than 5 of these trips in any single year".

It worked for both of us.

Good luck

There are two primary reasons why a reasonable estimate (at the very least) of ALL trips outside of the US >24 hours since permanent residency was granted should be listed (that is, NOT only the last five years):

(1) the satisfy the USCIS that the residency terms of permanent residency have been honoured and

(2) to satisfy the USCIS that the residency requirements for citizenship have been fulfilled.

I had a long and complicated travel/residency history when I applied for citizenship in mid-06 (now approved). At my interview, it was pretty easy to satisfy the IO on (2) above.

However, there was some clarification needed on (1) above and the high quality of my personal documentation and record keeping was a big asset in keeping the IO happy.

Do the very best you can and reconstruct an honest estimate of dates and trip durations where you do not still have records.
