Time frame for reply for RFE

Whats usual time frame given by INS to respond to an RFE?

I am asking this, since I got laid-off after 6 months of filing for 485. I am searching for a job, but in this economy, its really difficult to get one.

Can anyone gimme some info??

When INS requires further information on a case, they issue a Request for Evidence (RFE) and give the petitioner or applicant a 12-week deadline to respond. If the response is not received in time, then the case can be denied due to the failure to a timely response to the RFE.
