I got my PP on 05/01 but not the Naturalization Certificate yet. It was an expedited application and I paid for overnight delivery for both ways.I called the customer service and learned that they (PP and Nat Cer.) were mailed out together. I also mentioned my travel date (05/08) on the application.

If some of you pls share their experiences on this, I would appreciate it greatfully:)

Thanks Huracan.

It will suck if it really takes that long, i guess i need to change the travel finally

Ravi, you don't need you nat.certificate to travel, only your passport. When you apply expedited, your passport is overnight, the certificate is sent first class mail - you should receive it shortly, but, even if you don't, no need to postpone your trip.

Thanks Auscal.

Actually i saw people on this forum got their PP an Nat. Cert. together and in my case the difference in number of days already have been 4 days.Wondering it got lost lost in the mail or not.

The process used by the contractor supporting the State Department is designed so that the PP and Nat Cert are mailed out separately. The idea being to preserve redundancy during mailing for your two proofs of citizenship. You need only one of those two items to prove citizenship. If they mailed both in the same envelope and that envelope were lost in the mail, it would cause significant procedural difficulties while you obtained replacements.

You need the PP for travel not the Nat Cert, so I am really not sure why you would consider changing your travel dates (unless this is permanent move?).

Also, 5/1 was a Friday. If the Nat Cert were mailed and/or processed separately, because it is sent First Class in a larger brown envelope, it is entirely reasonable that it may not arrive till later this week (or perhaps even next week).
