It's really sad to see that a person very familiar with Indians and India in general would subscribe to such stereotype:

Read about Carl Shusterman's trip to India in his newsletter over here:
http://www.shusterman.com/siu.html#7

Where he mentions the beauty of Goa and what a good place it is.

"Goa is a beachgoer's dream. We stayed in a small hotel near the beach. Every morning, after an outdoor Indian buffet breakfast, I would head for the beach. The sand was pristine, without a single piece of trash. I would jog for a couple of miles, then jump into the beautiful Arabian sea in order to cool down."

And then what he shows is an entirely different picture of India which is very stereotypical for a foreigner to do, with cows in the streets.

I was expecting a better treatment from Carl Shusterman. Does anyone have his e-mail address where we can bring this to his notice.

Yeh, when I see the pictures at first, what the heck, he could shown something better. Oh well, world doesnt end tomorrow..

I dont think there was anything objectionable in the pictures or the text. First and foremost, there are cows on the streets of India regardless of which city. Please accept that and I dont know why that is so demeaning - India is a developing country and we are improving -no shame in that.

Being here in the US, I can see why he was amused with the sights that he saw and I think the first picture was actually awesome with all the flower vendors sitting down and selling the stuff. I cannot imagine he will actually click pictures of some mediocre 10 story building with glass windows to share with his friends and family in the US.

Dont overreact.
