Hey guys,

I got my green card approved on Feb 2nd and did passport stamping on Feb. 11th at Dallas. And I have been waiting 4.5 months since for my green card to arrive whereas people who did stamping weeks ago have been getting it.

Anyway, for my upcoming travel to India through Zurich, Switzerland (I am just going to spend 2 hours at the airport on transit), I am having take Swiss transit visa for $44. What does it buy me when all I can do is go from one gate to the other??!! And all this is because they do not recognize other than passport, visa and green card.

Does anybody have experience going through Zurich?

Swiss Transit Visa

With a green card or I-551 stamp in your passport no transit visa should be necessary in Switzerland; recheck with your airline/Swiss Consulate.

I called the Swiss consulate in Houston. They said unless I have the plastic card, I need transit visa. Since I only have "Processed for 551" passport stamp, he said I need transit visa because the officials in Swiss airport only considers plastic card as green card.

Swiss Transit Visa and Green Caed

Recently (in March) a friend of mine travelled with the I-551 stamp through Zurich and he had no problems; I rechecked with him just now.

Oh, give me a break. Considering we are still waiting for the FP, not to mention approval or stamp, your experience is really nothing.

I have a friend who has been waiting for his plastic card for 3 years and I think he will get citizenship before he gets the card.

What's the big deal? You are free now and you are still whining?
