I am not usually very optimistic but this time I am 100% sure, retrogression will be over for the time being once this bill becomes law. No party or congressperson/senator in either house has expressed any oppposition to promoting legal immigration and even though different versions have different benefits as far as we EB applicants are concerned, most combinations of proposals is bound to remove retrogression.
Off the top of my head, here are some of the benefits for us:
1) Increase in overall EB visa quota (I think its doubling)!!
2) Increase in percentage of how much a country can tap into unused visas from other countries
3) Recapture of unused visas since 2001!!
4) Increase in EB3 percentage of total visa share (atleast good for me
)
5) Dependent's application won't be counted towards the quota!!
6) Some highly skilled/educated/talented will not be counted towards the quota (sorry for the laymen description)
...add more if I left something out.
I mean even if some of these make into final bill, retrogression is over for the next few years. And you can quote me on that. Visit this thread a few weeks from now and tell me if I was wrong.
And in the remote chance that we don't get any benefit from this immigration reform...I will pack up and leave this country. This will be the second time (2000-01) I get overtaken by illegals for immigration benefits and I won't take it. There are a billion benefits for illegals in this bill and it will be huge mistake not to listen to us who are trying to settle here legally.
