Thirukkural #2

Translation

2. VIRTUE -> The Praise of God
====================

No fruit have men of all their studied lore,
Save they the 'Purely Wise One's' feet adore.

Meaning
-----------
What Profit have those derived from learning, who worship not the good feet of Him who is possessed of pure knowledge ?

Sharabi,

What Koym2r_Maapilai is writing here is merely a piece of literature. That is for information only. No where does he ask anyone to follow nor does he claim to follow it himself. When someone posts something on a forum such as this, it isn't always because he/she firmly believes in and follows it, but for the sake of sharing what that person has come to know/hear about.

Plus, what he is talking about IS NOT a piece of crap! It is a wonderful piece of literature that has been translated into scores of foreign languages by people who are foreign to the language in which it was originally written. You and many others may not agree with everything that is said in it but that in no way makes it junk!

No regrets here in keeping this thread alive.

For some reason, Sharabi started out as a very objective person and suddenly seems to have shed that skin and is revealing a subjective self... He/she is starting to get quite personal and offensive in his/her comments and opinions.

To me, looks like Mr.Mappillai just likes to Show off.

He is just using Thirukkural as a medium to make noise. It is not his true intention to make people understand or help people to understand the richness of Thirukkural.

If he wants to help people of other language and culture to know more about tamil & its rich literature he should rather do it in a different way. There are lot of sites asking for people to translate tamil literature to english.

So, Mr.Mappillai,
Avoid offending the others. Go to the right place and do it.

You are doing the right thing in the wrong place.

it gives a negetive feeling.

To make it more clear,
Under "Vinai cheyal vahai" athikaaram # 675
"PorulKaruvi Kaalam VinaiYidanodu Ainthum
Irul theera ennichcheyal"

Meaning:
"Before you do something give considerations to
Cost, Worth, Time , How to and Where to"

Thanks
