Third time FP postponement

Hi,

I have applied for and got my EAD and AP a few months back. I have postponed my FP twice. I got married last month and my wife is to arrive here in the US next week once she gets her H4. Now I've received the 3rd FP notice now and the appointment is pretty much on her scheduled date of arrival. I would like to postpone this because in case she has any trouble with her H4 or at the port of entry, then I may be delayed in adding her to my GC application. My PD will become current on in June 1 which gives me only a week to add her.

Is a third postponement advisable? Has anyone had a good/bad experience of it? And if I postpone, can I directly tell them the reason for postponement is to allow my wife to be added to my application in June?

And is it a wise idea to go to the local FP office before the appointment and ask them the same thing in person? Also, given that I'll know whether she got her H4 only a couple of days before the FP appt., can I physically go to the FP office the day before my appointment and ask for a postponement then or is that too short a notice for them?

Would really appreciate if anyone can help me out with the above info or their experiences in similar situation.
Thanks a lot in advance.

One week is cutting it way too close, if you ask me.

Not sure what the IO will think about it. Maybe you can call them and try to reschedule it? See what they say.

Not sure if that'll work out. The folks at the FP office do just that: take FP's. They probably get the appointments from somewhere else and probably lack the authority to change them.

In your case, I think it's best to get the FP postponed. What if the H4 is denied for some reason? This happened with me, as we forgot to get some docs when my wife went for an H4. This resulted in a week's delay for her H4.
Also one week to complete the I-485 app is a little short, especially if you have dependencies on your company/attorney, in which case it's guaranteed to be too short.
Also only two day notice about whether or not your wife's H4 is approved is too short.

I'd say call them up and ask them to postpone your FP. If you look at your record and say that they can't do it, well then, they can't do it.
Give your FP and hope that you don't get very lucky and get approved on June 1st.
