Hello,
My wife has been in country for a year now on an approved immigrant visa (CR-1; conditional marrige visa for couples married less than 2 years) with an entry stamp in her passport.
They told us to expect a "welcome pagkage" anywhere from 30 days to 3 months, and shortly after your greencard will come. After 6 months, we went to a field office, where we were told by an immigration officer, "Just give it a couple more months". Well, it's been a year now and she's got a year left before we must file to "remove the conditions" on her visa.
I decide that I'd give USCIS a call. After an hour or so on hold, I am told that they could not reference the A# in her passport. Since she never received a "welcome package", we have no receipt number. Basically they officer I spoke to says USCIS lost her information and that we must make an appointment (easier said than done) to speak with an officer at our local office.
I guess my question is, has anyone ever heard of this situation and if so, what was done to correct it? ANY HELP IS GREALTY APPRICIATED!
Good luck to all going through the immigration process!
