They LOST my wife's information!?

Hello,

My wife has been in country for a year now on an approved immigrant visa (CR-1; conditional marrige visa for couples married less than 2 years) with an entry stamp in her passport.
They told us to expect a "welcome pagkage" anywhere from 30 days to 3 months, and shortly after your greencard will come. After 6 months, we went to a field office, where we were told by an immigration officer, "Just give it a couple more months". Well, it's been a year now and she's got a year left before we must file to "remove the conditions" on her visa.
I decide that I'd give USCIS a call. After an hour or so on hold, I am told that they could not reference the A# in her passport. Since she never received a "welcome package", we have no receipt number. Basically they officer I spoke to says USCIS lost her information and that we must make an appointment (easier said than done) to speak with an officer at our local office.
I guess my question is, has anyone ever heard of this situation and if so, what was done to correct it? ANY HELP IS GREALTY APPRICIATED!

Good luck to all going through the immigration process!

Sorry to hear about the mess you're in. I don't have anything to offer in your case but one advice. Try to get as many as possible informations by the USCIS officials in written form. Phonecalls are fine but you need any evidence you can get that you care about your case.

Get an INFOPASS as soon as you can in your district office, get your wife with you and her passport and if you have copy of all the documents that you get since the beginning of the process when she was at the consulate.
About if they can lost information or the file of a person, yes that happened in the past unfortunately. But don't worry at least she had the stamp so she definetly was approved and is a legal permanent resident, but you must make an INFOPASS.

Good luck,

Good, take all the docs with you and in any case did you contact the NVC? just in case they can find her info, since she went through Consular Processing...probably they can find something...just an idea or to contact the Consulate.

Good luck and keep us posted, this can help others that are through your same situation.

The National Visa Center...did your wife went through Consular Processing first? or she was an adjustment of status? I got the impression that she went through CP.

Cp?

Well, after she received notice of an approved visa (at the US Embassy in Seoul), she met with immigration officials at her port of entry. They took her "package 3" and gave her passport back with an entry stamp. They told her to wait for her welcome package in a month or two, but you know what happend with that.

CP: Consular Processing

That is why I said that you even can try to call the National Visa Center since through them was her original process.

Thank you

OK, thanks alot. I've spoken with so many immigration officers and not one has mentioned the NVC to me. I appriciate it! :)
