Bush to Propose Immigration Law Changes

Bush plan lets some illegal workers keep jobs

President Bush will propose immigration law changes to allow workers from Mexico to enter the United States if they have jobs waiting for them, officials said Monday in previewing an election-year measure intended to bolster support among Hispanic voters.

Advocacy groups were invited to the White House on Wednesday to hear details of the program.

We are dead people. Now all service centers will work only for workers from Mexico and service centers will have not time for us.

Don't worry bro, someone will die before us if that bill got past - American workers.

Let's see.

I think most immigrant workers from Mexico are unskilled laborers. I don't think they will be competing for the jobs of the members of this portal. I don't mean any offense to Mexicans. Just my reading about the nature of the jobs they come here for.

ECGC,

He was not referring to job competition, he was referring to clogging up the arteries of the INS, which will happen because of the thousands of new cases flooding the INS and all hands being sent to man the pumps!

Being a victim of the previous 245(i) life act at the labor department, I shudder to imagine what would happen if this is implemented before I get my approval. I waited over 18 months in labor, while people who filed a couple of weeks before me got away in 6 weeks and have their green cards in hand today. :(

Blow blow blow election politics! All I can hope for is that it takes time for the legislation to make its way through the congress. I don't understand how these idiots can support this influx without providing additional budgeting to the INS!

This indeed will cause more delays for the GC processing. Now in the end illegal immigrants are better off then those tax paying and law abiding legal immigrantion seekers.

ItsComing,

You type a little faster than me! :)

Oh and could you remove SPAM from the header of your thread. THIS is not SPAM, instead an extremly valid issue towards our 485 processing!

140_takes_4ever, I'm not able change header of topic, but I agree with you it is an extremly valid issue towards our 485 processing!

I'm sure that during election year priority for BCIS will be amnesty of illegal worker but not our cases. :(

I agree! And I hope that atleast after seeing this and understanding the ramifications of what this legislation will do to our wait for approval, all the lazy people who are not helping with lobbying Congress for speedy approvals will wake up and see the light.

If you don't get your approval SOON! You are going to be waiting for a hell of a lot longer than you THINK! So let go the lethargy and push the Congress for your approval. All those who were affected by 245(i) LIFE act will know what the wait is like! And this will be worse since this will become an annual thing.

ItsComing,

Could you cross post this in the other 485 forums?

this is easy for them no AC21 no same job profile and interview , damn.

Can we also apply under same category in parallel with our AOS.

Become a farmer...

...if this shit goes through. One of the riders that the agriculture industry has proposed is for farm workers to be attached to this new bill. If memory serves me correctly, you have to have worked for a 100 days in the past year or so doing agricultural work, and have to promise to do 360 more days in the next few (3 or 6?)years.

Wonder if planting some vegetables in my back yard qualifies? :p
Honey, here's some tomato seeds...:D :D

Jai Kisan!

Allows people already living and working in the United States to legalize their status: People who work hard, pay taxes, and contribute to the U.S. should be allowed to obtain permanent residence. This reform would stabilize the workforce of U.S. employers, encourage people to come out of the shadows to be scrutinized by our government, and allow immigrants to work and travel legally and be treated equally. Many have been here for years, are paying taxes, raising families, contributing to their communities and are essential to the industries within which they work. In order to unite families and keep them together, appropriate waivers must be available for grounds of inadmissibility and deportability.

Where is my green card?

I believe LIFE Act is still affecting us, not only for victims at the Labor Department but also by a huge backlog at USCIS.
If FB ones get higher priority than EB ones, we would have no chance for next 5-6 years.

Anyway, we have to pressure Congressional members as soon as possible.

This clearly goes to show "democracy" in today's form is really demockery. The majority rules, and sense suffers.

Good luck everyone.

Its that Time in History !

I look at this as follows:

1) Many of my friends, highly qualified, are thinking of moving to India ( Some have already done so and had their GCs), where the High Tech action is and will be going forward. Administrative Injustice here, Action in Asia, Better living and working conditions in our home countries would make the option of going back more and more attractive as time passes by. More over after living here for 6 years I can't boast of any significant savings, nor can I say any longer that I am enjoying a higher levels of living conditions. The same Cars, fast roads, administrative effectiveness..... are all coming to our home countries too.

2) On the other hand I think the history is about to repeat by itself as US prepares itself as an Agri based, low value adding community and this move could be one leading to that.

It is time that all of us raise the voice on unfair treatment for being law abiding, tax paying, (more imp. Social security tax paying), as well as contributing to the economy of US and also it is time that the authorities realized 'Enough is Enough'.
