I found an article to share with all of the anxious GC waiters. There is a number and e-mail to request expedite process (802-527-3192).

Just a joke, I think everybody whose I-485 has been pending for more than 540 days has the right to request expedite process because 1) it is a SERVICE ERROR; 2) We have SEVERE FINANCIAL LOSS:mad:

EXPEDITE INSTRUCTIONS
(To be given to the public via website and/or handout)

The Vermont Service Center accepts expedite requests on most applications or petitions that are processed at this Center and meet the established criteria listed below.

PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT ACCEPT N-400 REQUESTS FOR EXPEDITE. THESE REQUESTS MUST BE DIRECTED TO YOUR LOCAL DISTRICT OFFICE.

In order for the service to consider a request for expeditious handling, there must be extreme extenuating circumstances creating a hardship to the petitioner or applicant.

Upon the approval of a request for an expedite, the case will be pulled and given to an adjudication officer. The officer will process the case accordingly. This may result in an approval, denial, or a request for additional information.

Petitioners requesting expeditious processing whose Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker (Form I-129) is available for Premium Processing will not be considered for expedite handling. The exception to this guideline would be nonprofit organizations and those seeking H2A classification.

It is most important to remember that the Service Center is backlogged in most every case type that is processed here. Therefore consideration for expeditious handling is very limited to those cases that are of an extreme nature.

The Vermont Service Center will accept expedite requests via FAX ONLY.

You will receive a faxed decision of your expedite request within 24 hrs.

The fax line will be available 24 hrs a day. The review of expedite requests are done between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Depending on the circumstances of the individual case, a full detailed explanation of the situation should be outlined as well as any documentation needed to support the request should be included. (IE: Medical Certificates, letters regarding possible financial losses from the company, etc…) Please do not submit more than 5 pages of material.

If you submit a document in any language other than English, it must be completely translated. The translator must certify that the translation is accurate and that he or she is competent to translate. Note: you must submit the requested foreign language document along with the translation.

*PLEASE NOTE: Request for expedites on cases located in the VSC Premium Processing unit should be directed to that unit by phone at: (802) 527-3192 or email: vsc.premium.processing@usdoj.gov.

EXPEDITE CRITERIA

The following criteria has been established by Headquarters in considering an expedite request.

Please review your situation and be sure it meets one of the criteria listed.

1. HUMANITARIAN SITUATION: When compelling humanitarian needs are present. As exists when an U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident petitions for a relative (visa number needs to be available) who is requiring medical treatment or special care, or in cases where the petition is for a minor child who lacks appropriate supervision or security. Medical documentation may be required.

2. EXTREME EMERGENT OR UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES: Such as, when a petitioner, through no fault of his own, is faced with an emergency. As occurs with nonimmigrant petitions for members of the arts such as when a musician, singer or other performer approved for a nonimmigrant classification is suddenly stricken with an illness and must be immediately replaced.

3. SEVERE FINANCIAL LOSS TO COMPANY OR INDIVIDUAL: When failure to adjudicate a petition within specific time frames would cause severe financial harm or loss to an U.S. entity and no other remedy exists.

4. SERVICE ERROR: When the Service has made an error in processing a case and that error has delayed the receipt of a lawful benefit.

5. DEPT OF DEFENSE or NATIONAL INTEREST SITUATION: The request must come from an official U.S. Government Entity and state that the delay will be detrimental to our government.
Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States.

what is the "severe financial loss"?

Dont tell me you cant move to another company or start your own. If you really want to you can. I know switching companies is a problem but i dont think that amounts to "SEVERE" financial loss! There are lots of people with NO job! There are also many people who have their own companies/businesses/investments. I can understand service error but not the other thing.
