Theory on Interview Scheduling?

In contrary to the notion employment based IV interviews are scheduled past mid-month, the July dates have lot of interviews in the first half. Does someone have a theory to explain this? This question has been raised a number of times in the forum. Is it FIFO (First In First Out)? Or can interviewee request the consulate for a convenient time before the dates are published?

maybe the consulates switch the trend every 6 months.. In the first half of the year, they have interviews only in the second half of the month and then once they reach the middle of the year, they start scheduling to meet some threshold # of interviews per year or something.. or maybe they do not have enough # of family cases for that month, so to fill those slots, use employment based... We can speculate and speculate and speculate but not sure whether we will know the theory...

PS: I used to never imagine so much until the gc process started.. ;)

I personally don't think it has anything do with FIFO(First In First Out) basis. Five of the cases (including mine) was transferred from NVC to the Chennai Consulate on the 12th May 2004. The system at the consulate for these five cases were updated on the 19th May 2004. These infomations are based on the enries at cptracker.com

Out of these five, my interview is scheduled on the 2nd July, for three others it is on the 16th(including abliga) and for BJ77 it is on the 23rd.

Also the EB interviews in the first half of july falls only on two dates. 2nd July and 9th July. As Dilbert mentioned it could be either because the workload at the consulate for the Family based cases are less so they thought to complete some of the EB casesduring that time.

Personally what I feel about my case is, the interview was scheduled on the 2nd only because my last name starts with the letter 'A'. If the other members who have their interview on the 2nd July could also mention their first letter of the last name then probably we may be able to find a pattern.

Questions about scheduling

I have a couple of questions about scheduling. I think this is the right thread for me to ask the questions.

My case was sent to Mumbai Consulate on June 9th. My case would have been entered in their system by now. I will call up Monday (June 21st) to check if my case has been entered in their system, and on which date.

What I would like to know is:

when I call them up on Monday to find out if they have entered my case in their system, would I be able to find out when my TENTATIVE appointment schedule will be (like first half of August, or last-half).

Is there a way to know with certainty my APPOINTMENT DATE, even before they have published the dates at their website? Can I call them up on, say, last week of June or first week of July, and ask them if they have scheduled my appointment date? When do they schedule the dates? And do they tell you if you want to know in advance, before they publish the dates? I need to know this in advance, because if my date falls before August 16, I need to request them to reschedule it to end of August.

Would sincerely appreciate some guidance on this issue.
Thanks

{ Boy your anxiousness has not come down anyways.
Well suggestion to the above question when you call them you better tell them exactly your last name and first name if needed spell it out, if found in their system then they will give your BMB2004 number. }

would I be able to find out when my TENTATIVE appointment schedule will be (like first half of August, or last-half).

{As mentioned earlier your tentative date will not be known but probably month can be known (this will be just a guess from the Cust.REP). }

Is there a way to know with certainty my APPOINTMENT DATE, even before they have published the dates at their website?
{As far as I read in this forum no you can't know it }

Can I call them up on, say, last week of June or first week of July, and ask them if they have scheduled my appointment date?When do they schedule the dates?

{Yes you can always call them and give your BMB number and they will let you know your status and between 10th to 15th are good dates to call }

And do they tell you if you want to know in advance, before they publish the dates? I need to know this in advance, because if my date falls before August 16, I need to request them to reschedule it to end of August.

{ You can always request to reschedule your interview once it is announced or during you call between 10 to 15 of the previous month }

Would sincerely appreciate some guidance on this issue.

Sanjay,
Just a suggestion, which ever thread you put your question it will be read and answered in the same way. If you are following this forum then you should have gathered by now that people are postponing their interviews for one or other reason and you can also do the same.

Thanks
