The USCIS officer at local USCIS office helps ?

Is it worth to make an InfoPass appointment to see a USCIS officer ?
Can they be more help then talking to them thru USCIS 1-800 number ?

For example, can they do some follow-up on name check sent to FBI ??
Anybody with experiences ?
