Timetable for the backlog reduction plan

Accoding to the backlog reduction plan Mr. Agurrie proposed for I485

FY2004----20 months, FY 2005---15 months, in order to meet his plan, the uscis have to meet the time line below:

Date-------------------Case filed--------Status
Jun 2004---------------Feb 2002---------OK
Jul 2004-------------- Mar 2002-------- ?
Aug 2004---------------Apr 2002-------- ?
Sep 2004---------------May 2002-------- ?

Oct 2004---------------Jul 2003-------- ?
Nov 2004---------------Aug 2003-------- ?
Dec 2004---------------Sep 2003-------- ?

if our case are servered on FIFO and not to be transfered to local office.

We should expect the JIT going foward at least half month in its every new report in the future.

I think it is like they want to meet the times by the end of fiscal year (and not by beginning). so in 2005 by Sep 2005, the times should be 15 months .. so say in my case I filed in March 2004, I should get it around July, 2005 / August 2005 (15-16-17 months but less than the current 20 months and most likely greater than the targetted 15 months .. ). This is what my interpretation is ....

Where did you get this info? I am a Feb'02 filer. Should I expect my approval by the end of this month?

I hope, pray and wish all FEB filers including mine to be cleared by end of this month.
I am thinking to go to Bridgewater temple and pary for all FEB filers this weekend.

:)

I am an August 2003 filer. I haven't even recieved my FP yet I doubt my case will be processed by Nov. 04.

I think that you are wrong in your calculations. When they say they will bring down the backlog period to 20 months by FY2004, it means that by 31st-Dec, the backlog period will be 20 months. That means they are supposed to adjudicate all cases filed before (upto) April'2003. Looks too good to believe. To achieve this they have to move the JIT time by 2 months forward for every calendar month. Let's see.

You are partially correct. It is the end of their fiscal year which end in September. So by September 2004 they want to bring the average time to 20 months and son on ... I doubt they can achieve it .. we will know in 3 months .....

"FY" can mean "Full Year" or "Fiscal Year". We are not sure what they meant ?
If it is Fiscal Year, then by this September end (in next 3 months), they have to clear all cases filed before or upto Jan'03. That means JIT has to move by 11 months in the next 3 months. This is all just talk. They will miserably fail in their goals. How ever things should definitely look better compared to what it is now.

FY is Fiscal Year. Look at page 14 in the PDF file provided in the third link on this page here: http://uscis.gov/graphics/aboutus/repsstudies/backlog.htm

The name of the file is BEPFinal-signed.pdf

FY is Fiscal Year

FY is always Fiscal Year. I don't know who came up with the idea of Full Year. Full Year 2004... A year is always full!!! no partial years  Either they will simply say year 2004, which means full year or FY which means fiscal year. Jokes aside, in USCIS lingo, FY ie Fiscal Years ALWAYS refers to Oct 1 to Sep 30.
It is another matter if they can meet their goals.

That means they have to clear all the cases with RD upto Jan'03 by this September end. Looks cool for all the 2002 guys. If they have to make it, then we will see a flood of approvals at least from beginning of next month.
Let's see.

I read that backlog reduction plan, and it appears that the 20 months they refer to, is the average cycle time for the FY2004. It need not mean that the JIT will show 20 months backlog. If they approve some recently filed cases (which they are anyway doing), then the average wait time will come down. This is what Rajiv calls "creative accounting". They are playing games not only with us, but also with united states congress

yes, we need to let everyone know they are playing number games. if we can let them to process the cases by FIFO, then it will become very clear about the progress of backlog reduction.
