The Name Check excuse

Guys,

I have the overall feeling that the usual "waiting for security check" response provided by USCIS when asked about delays in I-485s adjudication is often (not always though) a canned answer and does not really prove that applications are stuck in name check but is just an easy way out for USCIS to refute the fact that they are not processing cases that are ready for approval.

Your thoughts on this
 
I tend to agree what GED69 felt.

I made inquiry through the 1-800 number for my I-485 yesterday afternoon, and promptly received a response from CRIS (who this Chris is?) 9:15am today saying background check pending. My I-485 even doesn't have an LUD or message update, still showing "received on ...".

I doubt that USCIS ever actually checked my files.
