The marriage to an illegal alien

Hi Immigration Gurus,

I've got my GC based on Employment 2.5 years ago and I still have 2.5 years before I file for US citizenship.
I've met a girl whose visitor Visa was expired in November 2003.
Could you tell me what could happen to her if I marry her and file I-130 petition ? I know that as LPR I can do this however she has to wait for almost 5 years until the priority date becomes current.
Do you think she will be deported by INS or I've heard that the lawyer could file some paperwork and she could pay a fine and stay here however she will not be able to work legally.
Any ideas ? Or it's better to wait until the changes proposed by Mr. Bush will pass thru the Congress ( I mean the ability for illegal immigrants to get a temporary work status ).

Thanks to everyone in advance,

Alex.

Hi JoeF,

Could you tell me where I can get more info on this "stay of deportation" procedure ? Isn't the marriage to LPR considered as one of these cases ?

As for the temporary working status for illegal aliens: perhaps it's a subject for a separated discussion thread and I understand that everyone who passed thru the legal immigration process ( which took several years for us ) are really surprised by this solution but ... I still think the chances are very high that something like this will pass because the big businesses will benefit from it: do you remember Wall-Mart was fined because they have hired illegal immigrants to do the cleaning ? After this proposal becomes a law Wall-Mart will be able to hire them legally therefore to cut expenses and etc.

Thank you,

Alex.

Hi JoeF,

One more thing: is there any impact on my future citizenship application if I marry to an illegal alien officially ? I've read that some percentage of illegal aliens are spouses of permanent residents.
Of course if the bill to extend V visas passes then it could reduce the number of such aliens because I do beleive that the families should NOT be separated.

Thank you for your replies,

Alex.
