So let me get this straight: you have to have the GC with you at all times for the 5 years or more, then you become a citizen and you do not need any type of national ID anymore?

Interesting design of a system where the lack of an authentication token gives you *more* privileges.

Actually they are stealthily doing it, right now they are hooking up all the states drivers licenses into one big database.

It is supposed to include criminal background etc. But Iam not sure whether it will include immigration data. Go to CNN and search for national id cards.
