The Dems sweep D.C : What now for the Diversity Program?

Does anyone think that the DV Program will survive beyond 2010?
Opinions anyone?
If i had to make a guess -- DV -2010 will be the last one. With such a majority, the Dems will certainly be able to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which means the end of the DV Program, sadly.

Actually, the DV Program has lost favour with both Dems and Reps, so it's likely to go anyway. But the strong majority held by a party will help to pass through their agenda quickly. Dv is going down, i'm telling ya.

You have no idea how many times I have heard this phrase for each of the past DV programs and yet the program is still alive and kicking :D

Edit: There is a saying in German which translates to something like this: "Those pronounced dead live longer".

I know...but it really is a question of time. There are 5 bills in the HOR, of which if any pass, then it's over. It's more a question of when rather than if.

I mean i certainly hope that it does not end, but there is so much oppostion from both the Dems and the Reps (Atleast they agree on something).

That's not entirely true since the senate would also have a say in this matter.

Besides, if that immigration point system takes shape within a few years then
there might be less of a need for the DV lottery since qualified would-be immigrants would all get a fair chance of obtaining a green card based on skill rather than random chance.

Obama was elected as president and Democratic Party nearly be majority in congress, does it mean that they can get rid of DV easily?
