Hi All

I have heard that you can take the US history test on the day of the finger prints. Is it true? Do we have an option? what if I fail? will I get another chance on the day of the interview.

where can I get some more info on this

This is actually for my Mom who I am not sure will pass.

Thanks

Well, based on my experience in Cleveland I just can't see how it can be done. You show up in a separate fingerprint office with a fingerprint appointment notice, agents there can only do fingerprints, there is no staff or paperwork for the civics exam.

Remember, the civics exam is just part of the interview, not a separate thing by itself. For some elderly non-English speaking immigrants the interview is the "exam", but it really is not. I know a number of people who were thrown out on the basic of the lack knowledge of the English language even before the adjudicating officer started going through the application.

Unless people have other firsthand knowledge I believe this rumor has no substance.

Well, what I have learned that only a few ASC offfers test at the day of FP. (Check the vermont thread & posting by LunaMoped). So far, I have heard that only one ASC in MD offers the test on same day and others dont seem to offer so she need to take it during interview only.
On the other side, if your mom falls under senior citizen category than I have heard that they only need to preapre 20-25 questions, unlike 100 for others, and they are asked from these 20-25 questions only.

Well, actaullay I checked in the naturalization guide and it says at the last page that person above 65 age and PR for atlease 20 yrs have diffrent requirement (such as small no. of questiones to be prepared). And they may be tested in langauage of their choice. So check it out incase if that applies in your mom's case.
